Restaurant owners who have filled out theirestablishment’s sustainability profile on the online restaurant guide IENS.nl, can also now showcase their sustainability story on www.duurzamereten.nl, a website about making food more sustainable. The Dutch trade association for the hotel and catering industry (KHN), IENS.nl and CREM worked together to couple the sustainability profile on IENS.nl to one on duurzamereten.nl.
Restaurant owners are thus encouraged to be transparent about their sustainability activities. At the same time, the consumer gets more insight into restaurants’ sustainability initiatives.
Updated sustainability profile
To put a spotlight on sustainability, the sustainability profile on IENS.nl was updated. A specially gathered think tank gave valuable input. This think tank consisted of restaurant owners, guests and experts in the area of behaviour change and sustainable consumption.
Making the whole food chain more sustainable
The new web platform duurzamereten.nl sheds light on the sustainability process of the entire food chain. The sustainability efforts of the hospitality industry are an essential part of that. The website is an initiative of the Alliance for Sustainable Food, which is an initiative of several industry organizations working together, and which is aimed at making the food chain more sustainable.
